Trauma Informed Embodied Mentoring and Supervision
About me:
I have been practising as a qualified coach and supervisor for over ten years, specialising in systemic and integrative approaches. I hold a postgraduate diploma in systemic coaching, supervision and family systems constellation work. Over time, I have undertaken further study in trauma-informed practice, somatic approaches, embodiment, compassionate mind training, and related fields. Through this learning and experience, I have come to understand that systemic theory combined with body-based interventions offers a more integrative approach to coaching, one that meets people as whole beings, exactly where they are.
I currently describe myself as a somatic coach and supervisor with a systemic perspective. By working through a systemic lens, my intention is to explore with clients the roles they hold within their systems and how they relate to the different components of those systems. This may include family dynamics, workplace environments, relationships, and wider contexts. The roles we play within systems can be both supportive and limiting, and by bringing awareness to these patterns, people can begin to make meaningful changes. A systemic lens allows us to step back and see the broader context, the bigger picture. For those I work with, understanding their role within their systems often provides a starting point, after which we move more deeply into body-based coaching.
Somatic practices enable us to work directly with the emotions and bodily sensations that arise, particularly those that act as barriers to change. Finding somatic practices and becoming more actively embodied in my own professional practice has been a game changer. It has deepened my awareness of my resilience, limits, energy levels, and boundaries, and has strengthened my capacity to create safety in my work. Within the context of supervision and mentoring, I integrate my professional experience, theoretical knowledge, and embodied awareness to support reflective, ethical, and sustainable practice.
The embodied professional
Being an embodied professional or business owner means recognising that your nervous system directly influences how you think, make decisions, communicate, and lead at work. Under stress, the nervous system moves into fight, flight, or freeze, which narrows attention, increases reactivity, and reduces clarity. Somatic awareness — paying attention to bodily sensations such as breath, muscle tension, posture, or heart rate — provides real-time information about these states. This awareness creates space between a situation and your response, allowing you to regulate yourself rather than reacting automatically.
In everyday work, this self-regulation supports better judgement, steadier confidence, clearer boundaries, and a more grounded presence with others. Instead of relying solely on mindset, willpower, or constant effort, an embodied approach treats the body as a source of intelligence. Over time, this leads to more sustainable performance, healthier working relationships, and leadership that feels calm, intentional, and trustworthy.
Mentoring/Supervision
Through my learning and experience, I have come to understand that systemic theory combined with body based interventions offers a more integrative approach to coaching and supervision, one that meets people as whole beings, exactly where they are. By working through a systemic lens, my intention is to explore with clients the roles they hold within their systems and how they interact with the different components of those systems. This may include family dynamics, workplace environments, relationships and wider professional contexts. The roles we play within systems can be both supportive and limiting, and by understanding these patterns, people can begin to make meaningful changes. A systemic lens allows us to see the broader context and the bigger picture, which then provides a foundation for deeper body based work.
Through a somatic lens, I support clients to develop a greater understanding of how they can become more trauma informed and embodied professionals, find more balance and align their work with their beliefs and values. I work with clients to support them in building sustainable businesses that are nervous system led, while also exploring how stress, money and pressure can impact the soma. Clients who work with me are often seeking a deeper understanding of how to increase resilience, find more balance and work in a sustainable, trauma informed and embodied way. Drawing on my diverse professional background, I use a varied toolkit to explore what you need, rather than applying a one size fits all model.
I specialise in mentoring and supervision for a wide range of professionals, including coaches, bodyworkers, yoga teachers, reiki practitioners and those working across other wellbeing and therapeutic disciplines. I focus particularly on mentoring women who are seeking a supportive and collaborative environment in which to explore potential changes in their professional lives. Many clients come to me when they are starting, or planning to start, their own wellbeing businesses. I support them to think strategically about how to become visible and authentic, and how to create a business that genuinely reflects their values.
This work can include exploring clear goals, business planning, adaptability, understanding your target audience, economic awareness, defining your services and marketing your offerings in ways that feel aligned and sustainable. In today’s competitive landscape of social media and online platforms, many professionals benefit from guidance and support to feel confident and empowered.
If you are seeking a trauma informed mentor who values collaboration and meeting you where you are, you are welcome to get in touch. Mentoring sessions typically run for 60 to 90 minutes and are available both online and in person. I also offer mentoring to women with limited resources through community based mentorship programmes.
Supervision group
I currently lead a a supervision group for women in the wellbeing industry, focusing on trauma-informed practices. This forum allows us to exchange ideas, offer support, and reflect on our work to enhance our trauma-informed approach. My passion for supporting others led to the creation of this group, with the goal of promoting choice, respect, collaboration, and inclusivity among practitioners. The group meets online every 2 to 3 months and is facilitated by me, a certified systemic supervisor with a deep commitment to trauma-informed care. I enjoy learning alongside others through reflection, as we all continue to grow in our knowledge and skills.

What Is Trauma Informed Supervision/mentoring?
A supportive space for growth, reflection, and well-being.
Trauma-informed supervision/mentoring offers a compassionate, reflective space where practitioners can explore their work with care, curiosity, and safety. Whether you are supporting others through therapy, education, bodywork, healthcare, or creative practice, this approach acknowledges that you, too, need space to process, recharge, and be held in your experience. You have a right to be heart without judgment and to have your emotions validated.
This is a supervision/mentoring style rooted in the understanding that trauma, whether experienced personally or encountered through others, can shape how we engage in our work, in our bodies, and in our relationships. My approach is collaborative, chocie led, actively working with the body and mind. Trauma informed somatic supervision/mentoring gently supports awareness, regulation, and resilience for those in various professions.
What Makes This Approach Different?
Rather than just focusing on performance or problem-solving, traumainformed supervision invites:
- Safety and trust: Creating a grounded space where you can speak freely and feel seen.
- Compassion and care: Honouring you as a whole person, not just your role or responsibilities.
- Body awareness: Noticing how your nervous system responds to the work, and learning ways to support it.
- Reflective dialogue: Exploring challenges through a lens of understanding rather than judgment.
- Empowerment and choice: Supporting you in finding your own voice, boundaries, and ways forward.
What We Might Explore Together
- How your work is landing in your body, moments of overwhelm, disconnection, or resilience, more awareness
- The emotional impact of client work, especially when trauma is part of the picture, including vicarious trauma
- Patterns of people pleasing, fatigue, or vicarious stress or trauma, and how to meet them with care
- Embodied boundaries, self-compassion, and nervous system support
- Celebrating your growth, intuition, and insights as a practitioner
- Building an ethical and trauma informed business
Why It Matters
Supporting others requires you to stay connected to yourself and yet be authentically present. Trauma informed supervision/mentoring creates a supportive space for you to be seen, nourished, and reconnected with what matters most in your work. It’s about sustainable practice, deep reflection, and the power of being witnessed with care.
